Braving the Wisconsin cold, 78 college teams converged at the Milwaukee Polo Fields to compete in the first major tournament of the Fall. Out of the Saturday gloom and Sunday frost, the University of Wisconsin came out on top in both divisions. In the women’s division, Wisconsin remained dominant the entire weekend, punching through a victory 13-8 against Wisconsin Eau Claire for gold. Eau Claire had an impressive showing over the weekend as well, with big wins against Iowa State and Michigan.
On the open side, the split squad Wisconsin X took down defending National and No Wisconsequences champions, Carleton College, 8-6 in a long, hard-fought game riddled with calls (observers stopped counting around 50). Minnesota and Winona State, both semifinalists, showed they’re two teams to watch this year.
